Proudly sitting as one of the largest manufacturers of bicycles in the world, Taiwanese outfit Merida is no stranger to providing quality bikes backed by a strong value proposition. Moving into 2021, this looks to continue with the introduction of the Scultura Endurance. Designed with modern riding needs in mind and said to provide comfort and efficiency over both tarmac and hard-packed gravel roads, we take you through all you need to know about the 2021 Merida Scultura Endurance below.

The new to the Merida line-up, Scultura Endurance brings a long list of features to the table, which underline its comfort orientation and the built-in versatility on tap.
The newly designed frame offers an updated geometry which suits the needs of a long-distance, comfort-orientated rider perfectly. A more upright riding position due to the longer head tube and the ability to fit slick tyres of up to 35 mm give the new steed a more comfortable ride as well as provide additional control in case the roads get rougher or more challenging. A slacker head tube angle and a slightly longer wheelbase, in combination with the wider tyres, are also said to make the bike more stable and safer at speed.
Specific areas in the chain and seat stays have a distinct profile that are claimed to work similarly to a leaf spring to enhance the natural compliance of the frame material. This is said to help to add further comfort to the rear end of the bike and reduce vibrations.
The Scultura Endurance also ‘borrows’ features from its more aero minded sibling, the Reacto. These include the newly designed ‘Wire Port’ headset that allows for a sleeker cable integration at the front end of the bike as well as a hidden seat post clamp that helps to keep lines smooth and uninterrupted as well as reduce turbulence around crucial parts of the bike.
As well as being a comfort-orientated road endurance bike, the new bike is also marketed as “the perfect winter training bike or fast commuter”. As such, Scultura Endurance models have the ability to add mudguards, making them more versatile, particularly when used as a training or commuting bike. The removable seat stay bridge stays in place to securely hold the rear mudguard or can be removed for a cleaner look and improved tyre clearance.
The entry-level Scultura Endurance 4000 looks set to hit local shores in late August with the rest of the range set to arrive in late September. Pricing for the Scultura Endurance range is as follows;
